Game Notes
SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Union College women's ice hockey team (2-16-2, 0-8-0) last played a home game on Nov. 16 (a 2-1 loss against RPI). Almost two month later, the Dutchwomen return to Messa Rink for a pair of ECAC Hockey games. Quinnipiac (3-18-2, 2-7-2) comes to Schenectady on Friday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. and Princeton (9-8-1, 6-5-0) arrives on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m.
Earlier this season, the Dutchwomen, who only have ECAC Hockey games remaining, experienced a 6-0 setback at Princeton on Dec. 5 and a 4-1 defeat at Quinnipiac on Dec. 6.
Senior goaltender
Lundy Day will likely become the owner of the school record for most career saves within the next couple of weeks. Since joining the team at the beginning of the 2007-08 season, Day has produced 1769 saves, only 127 saves away from the top spot.
If she averages 35 saves a game, Day will break the record during the Jan. 17 game at Colgate.
Her .902 save percentage ranks her second all-time.
Looking at the top of Union's leaders list, two of the three with six points or more have at least one year of college experience. After that the next five are all freshman.
Last time out, Union traveled to Orono, Maine for a pair of games against the Black Bears on Dec. 12-13. Maine captured the first game 2-0, but Union rallied with two late goals for a 2-2 tie during the second outing.
The Dutchwomen erased a two goal deficit with under seven minutes to play during that game.
Freshman
Kelly Alyea scored with 6:25 remaining and then Koetteritz tallied the equalizer with only five ticks remaining.
The Bobcats, losers of nine of the last 11 games, are led by senior Elyse Cole, who has a team-high seven goals and 13 points. Her six assists tie her for second.
\Junior Janine Duffy is second with 12 points behind six goals and six assists.
Junior Nanna Holm-Glaas has played 15 games in goal with a 1-12-1 record, a .879 save percentage and a 3.77 goals-against average, while sophomore Tia Wishart has played 11 games with a 2-5-1 mark, a .921 save percentage and a 2.68 goals against average.
Princeton is ranked 10th in the latest USCHO.com poll and is receiving votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll.
The Tigers have won five of six and are coming off a 1-0 victory at Harvard on Jan. 2 and a 4-1 win at Dartmouth on Jan. 3.
Princeton has five players with double-digit points, including sophomore defender Sherry Sasha with a team-high six goals and 16 points.
Senior Kristen Young has posted a 9-8-1 record with a .918 save percentage and a 2.41 goals against average.
