Mynders MVP of Interleague Challenge as Union goes 4-0

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Veronica Mynders was named the Most Valuable Player of the Interleague Challenge as Union won all four matches in the tournament at home this weekend. Saturday, the Dutchwomen defeated Oneonta and Lasell after Friday's wins over Ithaca and Potsdam.

In Saturday's action, the Dutchwomen downed Oneonta in five games by scores of 28-26, 18-25, 14-25, 25-21 and 15-11. Later in the day, Union completed the perfect weekend by defeating Lasell in four games, 20-25, 25-18, 25-18 and 25-10. Friday featured a five game win over Ithaca, 25-21, 19-25, 23-25, 25-23 and 15-13, and took four games to beat the Bears, 25-17, 23-25, 25-12 and 25-14.

Against Ithaca, Erika VanValkenberg had 44 assists and Mynders had 24 digs. Eve Richards finished with 15 kills and Bridget Little added five blocks. VanValkenberg dished out 27 assists against Potsdam and Mynders finished with 16 digs. Rachel Ormsby and Jordan Remillard each had eight kills for the Dutchwomen.

Saturday's highlights included 35 assists from VanValkenberg and 24 digs from Mynders in the win voer Oneonta. Richards (13 kills), Ormsby (12 kills) and Little (six blocks) all had solid performances.

Union is now 15-11 on the season and is idle until October 21, when the Dutchwomen compete at Russell Sage at 7 p.m.
