SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - On the first day at Skidmore College, the Union College volleyball team split two matches Friday, shutting out Plattsburgh 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 15-15) and falling to Ramapo 1-3 (19-25, 25-23, 28-30, 24-26).
Against Plattsburgh, sophomore Eve Richards led the way for the Dutchwomen, recording 14 kills and 10 digs while senior #Rachel# Ormsby had 17 digs, six kills and two blocks and freshman Kimberly Armstrong added 32 assists.
It was a close match-up against Ramapo, junior Erika VanValkenburg (43 assists, 10 digs) and Richards (11 kills, 12 digs) each had a double-double. Ormsby picked up 18 digs and seven kills while junior Bridget Little added 10 kills and six blocks. Junior Jordan Remillard had 13 kills and five blocks for Union.
Union returns to Skidmore College on Saturday to face Cortland at 10 a.m., followed by New Paltz at noon.
