UnionAthletics.com: You're entering your senior year, what is your frame of mind heading into your last collegiate season?
Joey Lokitis: It's a little bittersweet entering my senior year, but I think it has only motivated me to work hard each day in order to contribute to a successful season for us this year. I've tried to take each day as it comes and focus on getting my teammates and myself better.
UnionAthletics.com: What do you do in the offseason to prepare?
Joey Lokitis: I have always been a firm believer that summer is the time when players are made, so I put a lot of effort in my offseason preparation. I've been going to the same YMCA gym since I first picked up a basketball and each summer, my approach has been to become the best all-around player I can be.
UnionAthletics.com: Who are you closest to on your team?
Joey Lokitis: This will be my third year playing with
Drew Goldstein and
Matt Rogers, and I've definitely developed some close friendships with those guys. I have a lot of respect for the efforts they give on the court and the type of people they are off the court.
UnionAthletics.com: What is your major (and minor) and what interest you in that field?
Joey Lokitis: I am a managerial economics major and I've always had a strong interest in the financial and business sector. Economics, in general, has always been a subject that I have enjoyed and found satisfying.
UnionAthletics.com: Who is your favorite professor and why?
Joey Lokitis: My favorite professor would have to be Prof. Lewis in the Economics Department. I have had Prof. Lewis for several classes and what amazes me is how much he knows about everything and anything. His knowledge in and out of the classroom is remarkable.
UnionAthletics.com: Take us through your pregame preparation?
Joey Lokitis: Every pregame is different for me, but I try to make sure that I stay loose and that I'm both physically and mentally prepared for what's to come. I try to get a lot of shots up at the basket and visualize certain situations I can expect in that game.
UnionAthletics.com: What's your favorite Reamer/Upper Class dish?
Joey Lokitis: I think the best spot for food on campus by far is O3 in Reamer. My favorite is a chicken, bacon, and provolone sandwich with cran-mayo dressing on some toasted bread.
