Less than five minutes later, Colgate responded to tie the game at 1-1. Marissa Dombovy beat Day, a Patty Kazmaier Award candidate, off feeds from Evan Minnick and Beth Rotenberg. The same three Raiders struck again 7:45 into the third period, as Dombovy and Minnick set up Rotenberg for the go-ahead goal.
Union put Day on the bench in favor of an extra skater over the final two minutes of the game, but could not score the equalizer. Union finished 1-for-7 on the power play, while Colgate was 2-for-6. Sass registered 21 saves in net for the Raiders.
