Dutchmen netters lose at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- Led by convincing victories in doubles and a sweep in singles, the Vassar Brewers defeated Liberty League opponent Union College 9-0 at the Joss Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon. 

Now 8-6 on the season, Vassar will play its final home match of the sesaon against Division I Fordham on Wednesday, April 8 at 4:00 p.m. Union drops to 0-6 on the season and will next face Wheaton College on April 10.

At No. 1 singles and doubles, Mattelson didn't drop a game. No. 2 singles player Max Willner was equally as formidable, losing just one game in doubles and two in singles. Sophomores Greg Katz and Joshua Jasso at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively lost eight combined games. Senior Jeremy Rosen, playing No. 6 singles, won convincingly 6-2, 6-1. The Brewers dropped only one set, at No. 5 singles where junior Shane Donahue dropped the first set 6-3, but stormed back to take the second 6-0 and the 10-point super tiebreaker 10-4.
