SCHENECTADY, NY -- Rachel Ormsby had a team high 12 kills in a victory over Baptist Bible in the second day of Union's performances in the Ithaca Invitational Volleyball Tournament. Orsmby followed up with five more kills and three digs in a four game loss to SUNY Geneseo to wrap up tourney play for the Dutchwomen.
Union downed Baptist Bible in four games, coming back from an opening game 28-26 loss to win 25-23, 25-22 and 29-27. Union lost in four games to the Knights, with Geneseo winning 22-25, 25-23, 21-25, and 11-25. The Dutchwomen are now 5-3 on the season.
In the victory, Erika VanValkenberg dished out 41 assists with 16 digs. Nora Wood had 11 kills and 11 digs and Eve Richards posted 15 digs and nine kills. Veronica Mynders led the squad with 21 digs and two service aces while Bridget Little recorded eight kills.
In the nightcap, Richards added 10 kills and VanValkenburg had 22 assists with seven digs. Wood posted 15 digs and Mynders led Union with 22 digs. Richards was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Dutchwomen open the home season this weekend, hosting the Union Invitational Friday and Saturday. Matches are at the Memorial Field House and Viniar Atheltic Center.
