The Union College swimming teams split a dual meet at Rensselaer on Saturday with the men's team claiming a 145-98 victory, while the women lost 135-105. Senior Steve Schapp and junior Brian Scarlett each produced two victories for the men and senior Maria Predergast also captured two wins for the women's team.

Schapp took home first in the 1,000 Yard Free with a time of 10:08.74 and in the the 500 Yard Free with a mark of 4:58.26. Scarlett complemented the Schapp's efforts with victories in the 200 Yard Free with a time of 1:48.81 and in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:00.21.

The men also got first-place performances from Kevin Jung in the 50 Yard Free (22.38), Billy Breitweiser in the 200 Yard IM (2:03.37), Ian Drillinger in the 1 meter Diving (3.28.80) and 3 meter Diving (293.60), Todd Herman in the 100 Yard Free (49.61).

Predergast won the 50 Yard Free with a mark of 22.38 and the 100 Yard Free with a time of 55.75.

Senior Meredith Nearpass swept the diving events with scores of 241.00 (1 meter) and 245.35 (3 meter).

Both teams return to the water on on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Williams College at 6 p.m.
