Swimming & Diving falls to Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Union College swimming & diving teams lost to Middlebury on Saturday. The women's team lost by a score of 175-120 while the men lost by a score of 163-125.

Meredith Nearpass, Andrea Marois, Maria Prendergast and Annora Brennan each highlighted with a couple of wins. Nearpass won both the one meter (228.75) and three meter (234.68) dives. Marois won the 50 yard butterfly by a time of 27.54 and Prendergast won 50 yard freestyle, turning in a time of 25.25. Brennan won the 200 yard backstroke by a time of 2:18.06.

On the men's side, Alex Boyd won the 50 yard backstroke (28.40), Steven Schapp won the 500 yard freestyle (4:55.12) and Kevin Jung won the 50 yard Butterfly (24.32). Ian Drillinger continues his success this season on the diving board, winning both the one and three meter dives with a score of 277.80 and 261.83, respectively.

Both the Dutchwomen and Dutchmen return will compete in their final meet at home of the season. They host Hamilton on Jan. 30.
