ONEONTA, NY -- Senior forward Kelsey Powers scored with 4:13 remaining in the second overtime to give Union College a 2-1 victory at Hartwick College in a non-league field hockey game at Wright Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
The Dutchwomen improved to 7-5 while the Hawks fell to 3-9.
Powers got a rebound off the post and potted her seventh goal of the season to seal with win. A long drive in from Tyler Willey had hit the post before Powers deposited the game winner.
Lauren Winchell scored Union's first goal with 7:38 remaining in regulation. She took the pass in the circle and her one timer shot tied the game at 1-1 with her third goal of the year.
Kelsey Kimble's first of the year with 8:52 left in the first half gave the Hawks the 1-0 lead. Katie Cikatz assisted on the score.
Union had a chance to win it in regulation. Alex King took a shot after a corner but it just went wide with 18 seconds left in the second period. Megan Lefeber took a shot for Hartwick that was stopped by Sarah Rios with six seconds left and the game headed to overtime.
The Dutchwomen had a 24-13 shot advantage, and Rios made eight saves while Mackenzie Chapman stopped 16. Union had a 24-15 corner advantage and 18-9 advantage in shots on goal.
Union is idle until Wednesday, October 20, when the Dutchwomen travel to Williams for a game now scheduled at 4:30 p.m.
