SCHENECTADY, NY -- Senior Mario Valery-Trabucco picked up three goals and an assist en route to his 100th career point as the 20th-ranked Union College men's ice hockey team skated past Clarkson University, 11-2, on Friday night at Messa Rink. Union (14-7-6) halted its four game winless streak and improves its conference record to 8-3-4, while Clarkson (5-19-3) goes to 1-12-2 ECACH.

The 11 goals scored is a Union record for goals in a game, topping their previous high of 10 goals when they did so against Air Force on Jan. 27, 1996. In all 13 Dutchmen registered at least one point and nine student-athletes had multi-point efforts.

Despite allowing the first goal of the game, the Dutchman responded with five unanswered goals (eight unanswered overall) as they dominated the first period of play. Led by seniors Trabucco and Jason Walters, each of which tallied a goal and assist in the period, Union's five goals were the most goals scored in a period this season. Junior Adam Presizniuk recorded two points in the period as well, picking up his 14th and 15th assists on the year on both Trabucco and Walters' goals.

Trabucco, who recorded his second hat trick of the season and tied a career high with four points, joins Walters as one of five Dutchman in Division-1 history to have 100 or more points. Walters tallied three points of his own, with his 14th goal of the season to go along with his team-high tying 17 assists.

Senior Luke Cain began the scoring barrage with his fourth goal of the season, just 52 seconds into the first period. On the play, Nolan Julseth-White (two assists on the night) recorded his third career assist and Kelly Zajac (one goal, one assist on the evening) tallied his eight assist on the season. The goal came in response to Clarkson's surprise first goal of the game, Nick Tremblay's third goal of the season, which was registered just 20 seconds into the contest.

Trabucco and Walters then followed with two quick goals of their own, as Trabucco's (6:52) and Walters' (7:22) goals were 30 seconds apart. Walter's slapper from the point beat Clarkson goalie Paul Karpowich (6 saves), who was chased at the 11:41 mark of the first period. Jon Lareau tallied his second career goal off assists from Cain and freshman Kyle Bodie.

Freshman Shawn Stuart capped the scoring in the period with his first career goal as senior Mike Schrieber and Trabucco each tallied their 17th assists of the season.

The second period was more of the same as the Dutchman continued to scorch the net, tacking on three more goals. Trabucco notched his 100th career point on a pass from Walters after freshman goalie Keith Kinkaid distributed a long outlet pass and was attributed his third assist on the season.

Zajac scored his ninth goal of the season on assists from Greg Coburn, his 11th assist of season, and Kyle Bodie, his fifth assist of the season at the time. Bodie finished with a career high in points with three assists and a goal. Freshman Jeremy Welsh registered his sixth goal of season on assists from Bodie and Coburn, who had two assists on the night to bring his total to 13 assists on the season.

The third period saw Union tack on three more goals coming from Presizniuk, Trabucco, and Bodie. Clarkson's Matt Beca scored his 14th goal of the season at 4:38 to help Clarkson's cause.

Both teams employed three goaltenders each in the game. For Union, Kinkaid earned the win with 13 saves in 33:23, while junior Corey Milan (6:37) and senior Rich Sillery (20:00) supplied some relief.
