Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Dutchwomen lose field hockey opener at Oneonta, 1-0

Box Score

ONEONTA, NY --
With a late second half goal, the Oneonta field hockey team came away with a 1-0 win over Union today in non-conference action. It was Union's season opener while the Red Dragons improved to 3-0.

Senior Ainsley Stoll scored off of a penalty corner from freshman Stephanie Fiske. The goal for Stoll was her third game-winning goal in as many games as the team remained undefeated in the early season.

Ainsley Stoll and Brianne Galli each had a shot in the first three minutes of the game to set the tone for the Red Dragons. Union came back and controlled the remaining first half with five penalty corners and three shots.

Similar to the first half, the second half was managed by Union yet again from the outset with a shot by Union's Alex King. The experience of senior Leslie Dauphinais in goal held Union at bay. She finished the game with nine saves on the day. Sarah Rios made three saves for the Dutchwomen. Union outshot the Red Dragons, 17-6, and Kelsey Powers had three of the shots for the guests.

Oneonta is now 3-0 for the first time since 1994 when the team had a 4-0 start.
