Men’s Swimming Defeats Middlebury; Women Fall

Scarlet won the 50 backstroke and the 200 backstroke

SCHENECTADY, NY-
The men's and women's swim teams hosted Middlebury on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium Pool.
 
The men won by the score of 151-147. There were four double winners. Adam Herzog won the 1000 freestyle in 10:09.02. He also won the 500 freestyle in 4:56.01. Brian Scarlett was the winner in the 50 backstroke with a time of 25.77 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.08. Alex Boyd was victorious in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 28.13. He won a close race in the 200 breaststroke by winning in a time of 2:17.38 which was just .21 seconds ahead of the Middlebury runner-up. Zach Wahl was the other winner on the day as he came from behind to win the 200 freestyle in 1:47.33 which was just two seconds ahead of the Middlebury runner-up.
 
Ian Drillinger won both diving events. He scored a 292.95 in the three meter dive and a 253.49 in the one meter dive.
 
The women fell by the score of 201-97. There were two winners. Kaleigh Ahern won the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.32. Priscilla Wright won the 50 freestyle in 25.13. The 200 freestyle relay team of Wright, Erica Fugger, Danielle Young, and Diana Fletcher won in a time of 1:41.50. The 400 medley relay team came from behind to take second place. The team of Sarah Bradner, Ahern, Andrea Marois, and Wright came in a time of 4:07.67 which was just .49 seconds behind the Middlebury winners. Wright helped to close the gap on the final leg from fourth to second.
 
The teams will compete on the road next Saturday against Hamilton at 2 pm.
