SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The Union volleyball team opened play in their final weekend of the season Friday at the Skidmore Invitational.
Union lost to the host school in five games, as Skidmore won 25-19, 22-25, 26-28, 25-21, and 16-14. The Dutchwomen fell to Baruch in four, with Baruch winning 25-18, 13-25, 25-20, and 26-24.
In the opening match,
Casey Tepper and
Eve Richards recorded double-doubles for the Dutchwomen. Richards tallied 19 kills, 18 digs and six blocks, while Tepper finished with 18 kills and 18 digs.
Mackenzie Westfall also had a double-double, recording 58 assists and 10 digs.
Nora Wood had a match-high seven blocks, while
Claire Kokoska and
Mary Foley each added six.
In the nightcap, Tepper tallied a double-double with 19 kills and 18 digs. Richards recorded 10 kills, while
Marissa Vollmer had 16 digs and Westfall finished with 39 assists.
Union closes out the 2011 season Saturday with matches against Plattsburgh at 9 a.m. and New Paltz at 11 a.m.
