ITHACA, NY - The Dutchwomen come away even from day one of the Ithaca Invitational. The squad defeated Baptist Bible 3-1 with scores of 25-21, 27-25, 23-25 and 25-19. In the first match of the tournament, St. John Fisher came out on top after a hard fought game with scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 26-24.
Against St. John Fisher, junior
Kim Armstrong led the team with 16 digs and 27 assists. Senior
Ashleigh Baldwin and sophomore
Marissa Vollmer each tallied 10 digs, while sophomore
Casey Tepper had seven kills. Senior
Eve Richards recorded three solo blocks and finished the match with nine kills.
Armstrong helped defeat Baptist Bible with 43 assists on the 100 points scored by the Dutchwomen. She also had 14 digs. Richards tallied 14 kills while freshman
Claire Kokoska had 11, bringing her evening total to 17. Vollmer ended the match with 23 digs.
Union is set to take on Widener University at 1:15 p.m. and The College at Brockport at 3:30 p.m. in day two of the Ithaca Invitational.
