TEAM SCORES
TROY, N.Y. - In a close score of 119-118, the Union College women's swimming and diving teams defeated rival RPI on Friday. Three Dutchwomen earned two first-place finishes to help earn the squad's first win of the season.
Senior
Priscilla Wright won both the 50 yard free and the 100 yard free with times of 25.20 and 54.98, respectively. Fellow senior
Lexi Bascom also won two events, swimming a time of 2:01.63 in the 200 yard free and a time of 1:01.58 in the 100 yard back.
Coming off of an extremely successful meet against Springfield and Hartwick, freshman
Anne Trojanowski won the 1650 yard free, clocking in at 18:02.17. She also took the 500 yard free for the third meet in a row with a time of 5:19.93.
Senior
Lia D'Ambrosio finished second on both the 1 meter and 3 meter boards, scoring 186.97 and 205.20, respectively. Also earning two second-place finishes was sophomore
Sarah Bradner. Swimming close behind Trojanowski, Bradner clocked in at 1:01.99 in the 100 yard back, while swimming a 2:19.25 in the 200 yard IM.
Sophomore
Emily Opolski was .40 seconds behind Bradner to take third in the 200 yard IM. She also claimed second-place in the 100 yard fly with a time of 1:03.37.
To round out their win, the Dutchwomen took first place in the 200 yard free relay. The squad of Bascom, Opolski, junior
Diana Fletcher, and Wright swam a collective time of 1:41.95.
Union is back in action on January 21st when they face Middlebury College at 2:00 p.m. in Vermont.
