Dutchwomen travel north to close a five-game road trip against Clarkson, St. Lawrence

Union's power play percentage stands at 35% for the season, second best in the ECAC.

SCHENECTADY, NY - The Dutchwomen (2-2-0) will wrap up their five-game road trip as Union will travel north to play No. 4 Clarkson (5-1-0) and St. Lawrence (0-5-0) on October 25 and 26 respectively to open up ECAC conference play. The game against the Golden Knights will start at 3:00 p.m. while the game against the Saints will begin at 2:00 p.m. 
 
Last Time Out

The Dutchwomen traveled to nearby rival RPI to in which Union was able to earn their first ever win at Houston Field House 3-2 on October 20.
Courtney Turner scored twice and assisted the game-winning goal to Christine Valente, all power play goals.
Shenae Lundberg made her season debut making 30 saves in the 3-2 win.
• Turner's three point performance was the first time a Union skater has earned three-points since Emilie Arsenault on Nov. 22, 2011 against Syracuse.
• It was the first time the Dutchwomen has scored three power-play goals in a game in their Division I program history.

Scouting Clarkson
The Golden Knights of Clarkson University come into this matchup 5-1 after splitting a two-game series with Mercyhurtst. Clarkson blanked the Lakers on three power-play goals in their first match up. However, the Lakers came away in the second game edging out Clarkson for their first loss of the season 4-3.
• Jamie Lee Rattray leads the team in goals scored and points with eight and 13 respectively. The forward currently stands in second in the ECAC in goals and points.
• Carly Mercer paces the team and the conference with 10 assists.
• In six games played, the Golden Knights have scored 19 goals , averaging 3.17 goals per game. In addition, 10 of their goals on the 2012-2013 campaign have come on the man advantage, boasting a 37% success rate on the power play.

Scouting St. Lawrence
St. Lawrence comes into tis weekend with a 0-5-0 record after falling to No. 2 Cornell on Tuesday evening 5-1. Addi¬tionally. the Saints were swept by No. 1 ranked Minnesota over the weekend with scores of 5-0 and 6-0 respectively.
• Kayla Raniwsky, Kelly Sabatine and Rylee Smith have all scored once this season for the Saints. Sabatine and Smith have also tallied assists on the campaign.
• Carmen Macdonald has started all five games for the Saints this season and has compiled a 0-5-0 record with a .872 save percentage and a 3.84 goals against average.
• All of their matches have been against ranked opponents except for Clarkson. However, Clarkson appeared on the USCHO.com poll at No. 7 following their weekend sweep of St. Lawrence back on October 5 and 6.

Last Time in the North Country
The Dutchwomen dropped both games to St. Lawrence on Dec. 2, 2011 and Clarkson the following day. Against the Saints, the Dutchwomen were defeated 1-3 in which the St. Lawrence power play went 2-3 in the game. The following day against Clarkson, the Dutchwomen fell behind in the third period in a 2-6 defeat.

ECAC Accolades Showcased
Clarkson's Jamie Lee Rattay and Erin Ambrose earned ECAC's Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively while Union's Shenae Lundberg was awarded Goaltender of the Week.

Newbies
The Dutchwomen feature eight newcomers to the roster this season. Seven of the players are freshman while the other is a transfer. The freshman consist of Courtney Turner, Lizzy Otten, Jessica Kaminsky, Jamie Smith, Rebecca Babiak, Kathryn Tomaselli and Madeleine Dahl. Sophomore Haley Welch comes from Division III Elmira College where she played in 24 games, registered seven points on two goals and five assists. All of the newcomers have made at least one appearence this season.

Guess Who's Back?
Former Union goaltender Kate Gallagher has returned to coach the Dutchwomen as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the 2012-13 season. The 2011 and 2012 Most Valuable Player for the Dutchwomen played in 65 games and held a .924 save percentage, both rank first in program history. In addition, her 1700 saves ranks third all-time in Union history. Gallagher was named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week on November 11, 2011. The netminder made 85 saves in games against Clarkson and St. Lawrence. In the game against Clarkson, she converted 33 saves in a 2-1 victory. Against St. Lawrence, she made 52 stops in a 2-2 tie, a single-game career high.

Impact Freshman
Courtney Turner, Jessica Kaminsky, Kathryn Tomaselli and Madeleine Dahl have already made their marks on this season in their first year. Kaminsky, Tomaselli and Turner consist of five of the seven goals the Dutchwomen have scored this season. Turner and Welch have also tallied assists in three games played. Dahl made her first collegiate appearence of the year making 11 saves in the game against Boston University.

Close Calls
The Dutchwomen found themselves in 14 contests that were decided by one goal or less, matching the 2010-11 season in that category. Union improved from the 2010-11 season with a 2-8-4 record in games decided by one goal or less. The Dutchwomen have matched their win total from the previous season with a 2-0-0 record in one-goal games.

Recent Success
Last season, the Dutchwomen were able to earn their first tie in program history against the Saints and thier first win from Clarkson, both at Messa Rink. However, the Dutchwomen have never been able to take a point-away at the Cheel or Appleton Arena.

Back to Back?
The last time the Dutchwomen have won back to back games dates back to October 16 and 17, 2009 at home against Sacred Heart in which Union won 6-0 and 3-1 respectively. After coming off a victory, the Dutchwomen have gone 0-9-1 in their last 10 opportunities.

Making Moves
Christine Valente's two power play goals on the season has moved her up in a tie for sixth place in program history with five in her career. In addition, Alana Marcinko's win against Connecticut ranks her third all-time in career wins with six tying her with Alex Zirbel.

Power Surge
Of the nine goals that the Dutchwomen have scored this season, seven have been on the power play. Union scored three times on the man-advantage against RPI, the first time in Division I program history. The seven power play goals ranks third in the ECAC.
