DAYTONA BEACH, FL -- Senior forward
Keven Donohue had game highs of 17 points and 11 assists and
Terell Winney had 13 points as the Union College men's basketball team improved to 9-1 with a 70-52 win over Wartburg at the Land of Magic Classic at Embry Riddle's ICI Center Sunday afternoon.
The Dutchmen, winners of eight straight, have started 9-1 for the second straight season. Union wraps up an undefeated December with a 6-0 record for the month, and is now 13-1 over the last three years in that month.
Donohue recorded his fourth double double of the season and the 12th of his career. He also had four assists and a block. Fellow senior
Joe Mason dished out a game best seven assists, and
Terell Winney scored 13 with
Keith Callies adding 10 points.
Brian DeBisschop recorded a career high nine rebounds, including eight on the defensive side, and added there assists.
Evan Croll also set a career high in rebounds with seven. Union shot 51% for the game and outrebounded Wartburg, 38-31.
Brett Ahlgren led Wartburg with 11 points and Trevor Dismore had six rebounds. Jake Reinhardt had nine points and Mitchell Murphy added seven for Wartburg, which shot 41%.
Union held Wartburg to 21 points in the first half and had a 15 point lead, 36-21, at haltime.
The Dutchmen, 1-0 in Liberty League play, will play league games for the rest of the season. Union has a four game homestand startng this weekend with Clarkson Friday night at 8 p.m. at the Viniar Athletic Center, and Bard Saturday at 4 p.m.
