2012 D3Football.com All-East Region Team
MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Two members of the Union College football team have been named to the 2012 D3Football.com All-East Region Team. Senior linebacker
Noah Joseph was selected to the First Team Defense and senior offensive lineman
Greg Skjold was named to the Third Team Offense.
Joseph earned Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American and All-District First Team selections. He also was a national top 10 finalist for the 2012 Gagliardi Trophy, presented to the player of the year in NCAA Division III. Joseph was one of only three players selected unanimously to the Liberty League All Star First Team. He led the Liberty League with 105 tackles and also had three for losses. He is only the 16th Dutchmen to record 200 career tackles and his single season total ranks seventh all-time at Union. Joseph was a three time league weekly honoree and ranked #45 nationally in NCAA Division III in total tackles.
Skjold was one of only two offensive tackles named to the D3Football East Third Team, and only six total tackles were selected on offense. He was also selected to the Liberty League First Team for the 2012 season. He was a three year starter and played all of the offensive line positions throughout his three year varsity career. Skjold's excellent work up front was a major factor in first year starting QB
Connor Eck throwing only three interceptions, and Union was in the top four in the league in offense and passing offense.
Union finished the 2012 season with a 6-4 record, and the 6-1 mark was good for second place in the Liberty League. The Dutchmen have recorded 30 non-losing seasons in the last 31 years.
