Lord Jeffs topple Dutchwomen in road dual meet

Results

AMHERST, Mass. –
Anne Trojanowski and Sarah Dimmitt were the lone top finishers as the duo was highlighted in the 200-yard freestyle and boards respectively. However, Union was defeated by Amherst College 188-83 victory at Pratt Pool Wednesday evening.
 
Besting the field by nearly three seconds in the 400 IM (4:39.54), Hyde also scored a win in the 100-yard freestyle (54:31). Steph Ternullo once again put forth a strong showing, edging out a win in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.08), while finishing nearly 12 seconds ahead of her closest competitor (5:14.57) in the 500 free. The sophomore also anchored the Jeffs' 200 free relay that touched in with a time of 1:42.14.
 
Maddy Sprung-Keyser, Courtney Flynn, Sarah Conklin and Adrienne Lightbourne got Amherst off to a fast start with the top time in the 200-yard medley relay (1:52.55), before Hyde and Annie Glancy took the top two slots in the 400 IM.
 
Anne Trojanowski earned nine points in the 200-yard freestyle, narrowly beating out Amherst's Ashleigh Stoddart by a tenth of a second. Ternullo got the home team back on track with her first of two wins, coming in first in the 100 back, before Catherine Maguire set the pace in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.44).
 
Nicole Heise  and Charlotte Chudy followed suit by finishing one-two in the 200-yard butterfly, before Conklin and Bobbi Mason  combined for 13 points with the top two times in the 50-yard freestyle. Sarah Dimmitt was the lone diver in the 1mtr, posting a score of 202.05, while Hyde and fellow first-year Kathleen West came in first and second in the 100-yard freestyle.
 
Aline Kim earned another win for the Jeffs in the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.43), while Flynn logged the best time in the 200 breast (2:28.40). Ternullo and Allison Merz  picked up nine points apiece in the 500 free and 100 fly (1:00.84), respectively, while Dimmitt took the top prize in the 3-meter event (192.30).
 
Sprung-Keyser recorded a win in the day's final individual event, the 200 IM (2:15.98), while Stoddart, Lightbourne, Conklin and Ternullo closed things out with the fastest time in the 200 free relay.
 
Notable Union finishers included Rachel Clegg and Danielle Young. Clegg placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.91 while Young placed in second as well in the 500-yard freestyle clocking in at 5:29.92.
 
The Dutchwomen will be traveling to Fort Pierce, Florida as Union will take on Indian River Community College next week on Wednesday, December 12 at 2:30 p.m.
