Men's lacrosse to host bone marrow registry drive at Hale House

Men's lacrosse will host a bone marrow registry drive tomorrow at Hale House from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
SCHENECTADY, NY - On Thursday, April 11th, the Union College men's lacrosse team will host a Bone Marrow Registry Drive through the Gift of Life program for the second time this spring at Hale House from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Members of the volleyball, baseball, football, men's and women's basketball, track and field and women's soccer teams have already pledged their support to the drive, among others.

On March 25, several Union student-athletes participated in the first drive, submitting DNA to determine if they were a match to become a donor at a later date. The project hits close to home for many in the Union community, and has quickly become a priority of the men's lacrosse team.

Through a simple process, the participants in Gift of Live were given registration kits to collect their DNA, taking no more than 10-15 minutes. Those who choose to register are not obligated to donate bone marrow simply by partaking in the drive. If one's DNA matches that of someone who is sick and in need of marrow, Gift of Life will reach out to see if there is interest in donating.
