SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Dutchwomen take the road again after a season-long five-game homestand to take on conference foes Dartmouth and Harvard. Union takes the ice against Dartmouth on Friday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. while the Dutchwomen will take on the Crimson Saturday, January 19 at 4:00 p.m.

Union's (7-12-3, 0-7-3) concluded their non-conference portion of the schedule hosting New Hampshire (8-11-2, 4-4-1) for their only mid-week game of the season. After the score being even after two periods at two all, Megan Armstrong tallied a pair of goals in the third period to give the Wildcats the 4-2 the victory.
The Dutchwomen were down 0-1 and 1-2 as Rhianna Kurio and Jessica Kaminsky both scored in the second period to level the score. Despite a great effort by Sheane Lundberg in net, the Wildcats were able to recapture the lead in the third period to prevail in the 4-2 win.
Union scored on the power play for the first time in 2013 and Kaminsky tied the team lead in goals and points with teammate Christine Valente.
Scouting Dartmouth
Dartmouth (11-5-2, 6-4-1 ECAC) is riding a season-high four game winning streak coming into this weekend. Last weekend, the Big Green toppled Quinnipiac and Princeton with scores of 5-2 and 6-2 respectively. In the last five games, the Big Green offense has outscored opponents 22-8 in that span.
The Big Green is paced offensively by Reagan Fischer who has tallied 10 goals and 11 assists in 18 contests this season. Camille Dumais has neeted the most amount of goals with 12 while Jenna Hobeika and Laura Stacey is tied with Fischer for the team lead in assists.
On defense, Lindsey Holdcroft has started 16 of the 18 games played for the Big Green. Holdcroft has compiled a 10-4-2 record with a 2.21 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. She has recorded one shutout this season which came against Union (Jan. 5).
Dartmouth boasts the ninth ranked team offensively in Division I, averaging 3.28 goals per game. Additionally, the penalty kill unit ranks 10th in Division I, going 72-84 on the penalty kill.
Series Against Dartmouth
Dartmouth has yet to concede a loss or tie to Union in 19 games between the two teams. In the last five matchups, Dartmouth has shutout Union in the last two meetings.
Scouting Harvard
Harvard comes into the match with an 14-1-1 overall record and an unblemished 11-0-0 conference record. The Crimson's only loss came in a 2-1 loss to crosstown rival Boston University on Nov. 18. New Hampshire also managed to earn a draw against Harvard in a 2-2 tie back on Dec. 8.
Harvard was also in competition midweek as the Crimson coasted to a 5-1 victory against Connecticut, extending their streak of unbeaten games to 11 (10-0-1).
ECAC Player of the Month Jillian Dempsey paces the Crimson attack with 20 goals and 16 assists. Dempsey also holds the nation's longest points streak of 30 games. Lyndsey Fry also has nine goals and 16 assists to her credit this season. Seven different skaters for Harvard have tallied 10 points this season.
The Crimson goaltendeing unit of Laura Bellamy, Emerance Maschmeyer and Molly Tissenbaum have only conceded 10 goals this season. Bellamy and Maschmeyer have shared most of the netminder duties this season. In eight games started, Bellamy has compiled a 8-1-0 record with a .966 save percentage and a 0.62 goals against average. Her save and goal against averages ranks first in the nationa. The senior also has four shutouts to her credit this season. Maschmeyer has yet to concede a loss with a 6-0-1 record while boasting a .951 save percentage, a 0.85 goals against average and two shutouts thus far.
Harvard's first ranked penalty killing unit has only conceded two power play goals this season, going 52-of-54 when the Crimson is a skater down. However, their power-play is 16th in Division I going 10-of-52, a 19.23 success rate.
Series Against Harvard
The Dutchwomen have yet to defeat the Crimson in 19 games played and have held Union scoreless in 17 of 19 matches with the last Dutchwomen goal recorded on February 13, 2010 at Union. In the last six games, Harvard has defeated Union by just one goal twice in that span.
Break Out the Erasers
Christine Valente continues to excel for the Dutchwomen special teams unit as she netted her fourth power play goal in the loss against Quinnipiac. Her four power play goals tie a single-season record, which is held by Lauren Hoffman (2007-08) and Elizabeth Flanagan (2001-02). Her four power play goals ranks tied for 25th in Division I and tied for seventh in the ECAC.
Coach Claudia Asano Barcomb has posted the most wins in her head coaching career in a single season with seven thus far. She needs four more to tie the program high in a single season in the Division I era (Fred Quistgard - 11, 2002-03).
Flashing the Glove
Shenae Lundberg ranks fourth among all goaltenders in saves (484) in the ECAC. The sophomore netminder set a new personal season-high with her performance over the weekend against Harvard and Dartmouth. She also tallied her first collegiate shutout in a 1-0 win against Penn State.
Open Fire
When the Dutchwomen have scored the first goal and leading after one, Union holds a 4-2-1 record against opponents.
Record Book Watch
With the Dutchwomen's wins against Maine, Shenae Lundberg notched her seventh win of her career, putting her tied for second in all-time wins in program history with Heather Olney (2001-02). Lundberg also ranks second in wins in a single season (6), ninth in career saves (966) and within the top-10 in save percentage and goals against avergae in a single season. Teammate Alana Marcinko has six wins, which ranks tied for third in team history and ranks fifth in career saves with 1239. In addition, one more shutout will give the netminder the all-time record in career shutouts. Forward Stefanie Thomson is now tied for ninth in career goals (14) with Molly Flanagan (2002). Christine Valente trumped her season-high of three power play goals last year with her score against Quinnipiac (Dec. 1). Valente needs one more to break the program high in power play goals in one season. Only two Dutchwomen skaters have accomplished this feat, Lauren Hoffman (2008-09) and Elizabeth Flanagan (2001-02). Additionally, she ranks tied for second in career power play goals with Jackie Koetteritz '10 and Elizabeth Flanagan.
Personal Bests
Sophomores Christine Valente and Shenae Lundberg are on pace to set personal bests this year. Valente is one more point away from tying a new career-high. Lundberg has set career highs in every statistical category for goaltenders and earned her first shutout of her collegiate career in a 1-0 win against Penn State.
Penalties
The Dutchwomen third lowest penalized team in Division I averaging 6.95 (71-for-153) penalty minutes per game and second lowest in the ECAC. . Union has skated in two games in which the Dutchwomen have not committed a penalty in regulation (Dec. 8 vs. Brown and Jan. 4 vs. Harvard). Dartmouth is the second most penalized team in the ECAC, avergaing 10.22 minutes per game. However, Union's season-high of penalty minutes came against Dartmouth (23). Harvard averages 7.75 minutes of penalty time, the sixth lowest in the nation.
ECAC Accolades
Lundberg compiled a 2-2-1 overall record in the month of December with 144 saves, a .928 save percentage and a 2.18 goals-against average. The Peterborough, N.H. native was credited with two wins against Maine and also earned a tie against Yale. Additionally, she tied her career-high of 41 saves in a losing effort against Quinnipiac.
This was the first time a Union women's hockey player has been named for a monthly award by the ECAC. Lundberg has also been named ECAC Goaltender of the Week twice this season back on October 23 and November 13.
Two or Less
Union has compiled a 5-2-3 record when their opponent is held to two goals or less. In games that meet that criterion, Union has outscored opponents 21-16. Nine of the 11 games in which an opponent is limited to two goals or less has come down to one goal or a draw.
Nailbiters
In the seven games that Union has won this season, six of the games have come with a one-goal margin. In each of those wins, Union has scored in the third period for the game-winner.
Light the Lamp
When Union scores at least three goals in a game, the Dutchwomen are 5-0-0. However, when an opponent holds Union to under three goals, Union is 2-12-3.
Game-Tying Goals
Rhianna Kurio's last minute game-tying goal against Princeton (Nov. 10) and Alex Tancrell-Fontaine's power play goal against Yale (Dec. 7) puts the duo with only six other skaters in the ECAC with game-tying goals this season.
Power Play
The Dutchwomen have tallied 13 goals this season on the man-advantage this season, which ranks as tied for third most goals on the power play in the season with the 2011-12, 2005-2006 and 2004-05 seasons. In the 2008-09 season, Union posted their most power play goals in a season with 15.
When Valente Registers a Point
Christine Valente has registered at least one point in every tie or win the Dutchwomen have earned this season. The only exception was Union's win against Penn State in a 2-1 victory. (Jan. 12). Union is 6-1-3 when Valente has tallied a point. In games that Valente has not registered a point, the Dutchwomen are 1-10-0.
Class of 2016
Rebecca Babiak, Jessica Kaminsky, Courtney Turner and Kathryn Tomaselli have all netted goals on the season. Kaminsky leads is tied for the team lead in goals, assists and points with sophomore Christine Valente with six. The freshman class also leads all classes in goal scoring with 13. The Class of 2016 has already surpassed the scoring of all freshman in the 2009-10 and 2010-11 years. Additionally, this freshman class has equaled the points to the Class of 2015.
Homecoming at Harvard
Head Coach Claudia Asano Barcomb and Assistant Coaches Ali Boe and Julie Chu all played and graduated from Harvard in which the trio was coached under current head coach Katey Stone. Additionally, Barcomb served as her top assistant coach under Stone.
