Dutchmen now 15-3 with 83-62 win over St. Lawrence



SCHENECTADY, NY -- Senior forward Keven Donohue scored 28 points and senior guard Joe Mason dished out eight assists with 13 points as the Union College men's basketball team won for the 15th time in 18 games, 83-62 over St. Lawrence at the Viniar Athletic Center Friday night. The Dutchmen are now 7-2 in the Liberty League while the Saints fell to 4-3 in league play and 6-10 overall.

Mason made seven of eight free throws and nine of 15 shots while adding six rebounds. Laurent Firlotte scored a career high 11 and Ethan Lubowitz also set a new personal best with 10 points and added five rebounds as Union used all 14 active players in the contest. The Dutchmen shot 55%, the second time that Union has shot 55% or better this season. Both teams finished with 31 rebounds.

Donohue has scored 52 points in his last two games, including 24 vs. Hobart on Tuesday. He has seven 20+ point games and tonight was just two shy of his career high. The senior is averaging 24.5 points in his last six contests. Donohue ended the night with 1,331 career points, moving into eighth all-time in Union career points.

Brady Condlin led the Saints with 18 points and Janpeter Brase scored 10, while Payton Stahler had a game high seven rebounds and added nine points. St. Lawrence shot 38% for the game.

With Union trailing 15-14 with 13:20 left in the first half, the Dutchmen went on a 17-2 run in the next 7:55 to open up the contest. Union took a 45-29 lead into the half. St. Lawrence got as close as 11 at 50-39 with 14:08 left in the second half, but the Dutchmen then went on a 9-0 run for a 59-39 lead with 12:34 left and never trailed by less than 19, leading by as many as 26 at 81-55 with 2:50 left.

The Dutchmen play at Liberty League rival Skidmore Saturday at 4 p.m.
