Homecoming weekend brings full sports slate

Union Homecoming Schedule

SCHENECTADY, NY - It's time for alumni, family and friends to come back to the Union College campus. It's time for Homecoming & Family Weekend 2013, and six Union athletics teams are ready for the support with very important home events this weekend.

The action kicks off on Friday with the Dutchwomen ice hockey team who welcomes Northeastern to the confines of Messa Rink for a 3:30 pm matchup. Starting at 4 pm you will find the Union field hockey team suiting up for their match against Liberty League foe St. Lawrence. The action ends on Friday with the home opener of the Dutchmen ice hockey team as they take on Bowling Green in the first of a two game series against the Falcons. Puck drops on the Dutchmen season at 7 pm. 

There is a full slate of action on Saturday afternoon with six Union squads in action at home and five teams playing away. The football team opens up the day with a 1:30 pm matchup with WPI at Bailey Field. Two more teams, the men's soccer and women's volleyball teams, kick of their matches just a half hour later at College Park Field and Viniar Athletic Center. The men's soccer team will be taking on Liberty League foe Hobart while the volleyball team will be welcoming back alumni for the annual Union Alumni Invitational as they take on Keene State.

Union hockey action kicks off at 3:30 pm as the Dutchwomen take on Boston University in the confines of Messa Rink. Back at Bailey Field the field hockey team will take the field following the football game. Expected start time for the Dutchwomen's second Liberty League matchup of the weekend against Skidmore is 5:30 pm. The weekend sports slate ends with the men's hockey team taking on Bowling Green at 7:30 at Messa Rink.

The teams competing away this weekend include the men's and women's cross country teams who are traveling to Westfield, MA to compete in the James Early Invitational, the men's and women's crew teams who traveling to Indian Wells State Park to compete in the Head of the Housatonic and the women's soccer team who is traveling to Geneva, NY to take on William Smith.
