Dutchmen take down RPI on the road

Wahl led the Dutchwomen past the Engineers after taking three event victories on Friday evening.

TROY, N.Y. – The Union College men's swimming and diving team defeated backyard rival RPI 136-107 on Friday evening at Robison Pool.

The Dutchmen posted 10 event victories to defeat the Engineers. Zack Wahl led the way with three event victories. Wahl led the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Christopher Koster, Adam Herzog and Benjamin Nadareski to a win with a time of 1:27. Wahl also captured event victories in the 200 yard freestyle (53.07) and 100 yard butterfly (51.88)

Other event victors included Matthew Hellauer (9:54 in the 1000 yard freestyle), Benjamin Nadareski (21.79 in the 50 yard freestyle), Cameron Robertson (290.3 in the three meter dive), Billy Phillips (49.52 in the 100 yard freestyle), Andrew Welch (54.2 in the 100 yard backstroke) and John Enquist (1:01.11 in the 100 yard breaststroke). The 200 yard medley relay team of Welch, Enquist, Phillips and Nadareski also captured first place with a time of 1:38.16.

Other notable finishes included Herzog (second place in the 500 yard freestyle and third place in the 1000 yard freestyle), Welch (second place in the 200 yard individual medley, Jeremy Sagaille (second place in the three meter dive) and Robertson (second place in the one meter dive).

The Dutchmen return to action tomorrow when they travel Middlebury College for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Panthers.
