LATHAM, N.Y. – Union closed the fall portion of its 2014-15 schedule with a 7-2 loss to Hobart Saturday afternoon. The Liberty League match was held indoors at Tri-City Fitness due to rain.
Union (0-3, 0-2 LL) started strong, winning two of the three doubles flights. At No. 1 doubles,
T.J. Moor and
Brendan Conry Jr. defeated Michael Rusk and Matt DePrima, 8-4.
Grant Zaccareo and
Spencer Fontein remained undefeated as a doubles pairing, downing Danny Kott and Luke DeLuccia, 8-6.
Hobart (1-0, 1-0 LL) stormed back to capture all six singles flights. Harry Nichols needed an opening set tie-breaker to defeat Conry Jr., 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 in No. 3 singles while Moor had to end his No. 1 singles match early, after battling Rusk to a 7-5, 5-2 score.
The "U" is off from competitive action until Feb. 14, when the Dutchmen travel to Skidmore.
