AMHERST, MA - The Union College men's swimming and diving team fell to Amherst College 202-91 on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen won two individual events during the first dual meet of the season.
Andrew Welch and
Benjamin Nadareski both took home nine points a piece for coming in first in their respective events. Welch won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.84. Nadareski was first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time 21:78. Nadareski also earned a second place in the 100-yard freestyle event.
John Enquist in the 200-yard backstroke and
Sam Hoyt in both diving events were the other individual Dutchmen that place second in their events. Hoyt narrowly came away with the win in the three-meter diving event by was outscored 265.24-263.55 by Amherst's Asher Lichtig.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team comprised of Nadareski,
Dan Steinmetz,
Matthew Hellauer and
Brendan McClure were the last second place finishers for Union during the meet.
The Dutchmen will be back in the pool next Saturday as they host Williams.
