SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Union extended its home winning streak to eight games with a 5-3 win over defending national champion Yale in front of a national cable audience and a sellout crowd of 2,205 at Messa Rink.  The Dutchmen also ran their record to 9-0 against Ivy League schools this season.

Fourth-ranked Union (19-6-3) has now earned 26 of a possible 32 points (13-3-0) in the chase for the Cleary Cup, holding down first place in ECAC Hockey by three points (Quinnipiac lost tonight).

The Dutchmen trailed Yale, 2-1, early in the second period before striking for four straight goals. Sophomore Theo Di Pauli notched his first collegiate goal, followed shortly by Daniel Carr's team-leading 13th goal to give Union its first lead of the night, 3-2, at the 6:25 mark of the third period. Carr worked a give-and-go with Daniel Ciampini on the highlight goal of the night.

Matt Hatch (ninth goal) and Matt Wilkins (fifth goal) also scored in the third period, as 11 different players recorded points on the scoresheet.

Sophomore defenseman Sebastien Gingras notched a career-high three points (all assists) while Ciampini netted his 12th goal, setting a new personal-best season mark in the process.  Union finished with a 37-27 advantage in shots.

Yale (12-7-4/7-6-3), which entered the game ranked 13th nationally, received goals from Mike Doherty, Kenny Agostino and Matthew Beattie -- the latter occuring with just 13 seconds left in regulation.

Union hits the road to meet Cornell (Feb. 14) and Colgate (Feb. 15) next weekend.
