Union Suffers 5-1 Home Loss to Cornell

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Playing at home for the first time in two months, Union came up short, 5-1, against Cornell in front of a sold out crowd of 2,123 at Messa Rink. The loss snapped Union's three-game win streak against Cornell.

Union's Ryan Scarfo scored with 14 seconds left in regulation to foil goaltender Mitch Gillam's shutout bid.  The Dutchmen managed a season-low 21 shots, but still had three more than the Big Red, who scored twice on the power play.

Five players scored for Cornell – Christian Hilbrich, Jacob MacDonald, Jake Weidner, Madison Dias and Matt Buckles – while Cole Bradreau finished with three assists.

Alex Sakellaropoulos earned the start in goal, making 13 saves, before giving way to season Dillon Pieri, who made his season debut.

Union plays host to Colgate Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Messa Rink.
