Meet ResultsSCHENECTADY, NY - The Union College men's swimming and diving program tallied 11 first place finishes in a 139-104 win over RPI in a dual meet on Friday night inside Alumni Gymnasium Pool.
The Dutchmen began the meet winning the 200-medley relay with the quartet of
Andrew Welch,
John Enquist,
Brendan McClure and
Benjamin Nadareski behind a time of 1:37.17.
Welch and Nadareski also claimed a pair of individual first place finishes. Welch took home the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Nadareski won the both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events.
Also winning a pair of events for the Garnet and White was
Matthew Hellauer and
John Enquist. Hellauer claimed the top spot in the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyle events. Enquist, fresh off his Liberty League Swimmer of the Week Award, won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:00.43 and the 100-yard breastroke, touching the wall at 1:00.82, right in front of his
Nathan Singer, whop placed second at 1:02.52.
McClure, the reigning ECAC Rookie of the Week winner,
earned a pair a second place finishes for Union in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events.
The Dutchmen closed out the swimming events with a second place spot in the the 200-yard freestyle relay behind the team comprised of Dan Steinmetz, James Lew, Noel Haren and Hellauer.
On the diving side, Union swept the top three in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Sam Hoyt claimed first in both with scores of 317.85 and 327.08. Coming in second in both events was senior Jeremy Sagaille and rounding out the top three for the "U" was Cameron Robertson.
Union will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they host Middlebury at 1:00pm.
