Kaminsky, Otten Tally Goals in Road Loss to #10 Cornell

ITHACA, NY - The Union College Dutchwomen lost to #10-Cornell by a score of 8-2 on Friday afternoon. Jessica Kaminsky scored for the third consecutive game and Elizabeth Otten scored her first collegiate goal. Shenae Lundberg posted 44 saves in the defeat.

After the Big Red made it 2-0 in the opening period, Kaminsky answered in just 30 seconds to cut the deficit to within one with just under two minutes left in the first. Kaminsky picked up her fifth goal on the season as she put the puck through the Cornell netminder's five-hole on the wrap around.

The home team increased their lead to 7-1 after two periods of play on the strength of five second period goals including two off the stick of Brianne Jenner.

Otten made it 8-2 with 7:46 remaining in regulation with her first goal of her college career. With Union on a 5-on-3 advantage, Christine Valente passed the puck out to Otten at the top of the left circle. Otten gave it Alex Tancrell-Fontaine atop the right circle who gave it right back to Otten. The junior one-timed it right passed the sliding Cornell goaltender for the goal. Valente and Tancrell-Fontaine both remained pace in their quests to become the program leader in career assists as Valente picked up her 33rd career assist on the goal, moving into sole possession of second place all-time in school history, while Tancrell-Fontaine sits right behind her, collecting her 32nd career assist on the goal. The all-time record for assists in a career is 35 set by Elizabeth Flanagan.

Lundberg's 44 saves was the seventh time this season the senior goaltender recorded 40 or more saves in a contest.

Union will look to snap their current winless streak as they take on Colgate tomorrow afternoon. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
