UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.—The Union College women's ice hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Penn State on Sunday afternoon.
The Dutchwomen, who were outshot by a 27-16 margin, gave up a goal in the first period and two in the second as they fell to 0-3-2. Penn State upped its overall record to 3-3-0.
Six minutes into the first period and Penn State found the back of the net as Kelsey Crow scored her first goal of the year and of the game. Union's goalie
Leah Patrick added seven saves on the period to keep the score within one.
The Nittany Lions strung together two additional goals in the second period. Laura Bowman placed it between the pipes on a power play. Two minutes later Jordin Pardoski scored off to give PSU the 3-0 lead.
The Dutchwomen switched goalies to
Melissa Black who posted 15 saves in the remaining 25:57 she played to prevent any other goals against Union.
Union hosts their home opener on Friday, Oct. 23 in a two-game series against RIT at 3 p.m., at Messa Rink.
