ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Union recorded its first win of the season, defeating RIT, 6-3, in a Liberty League match held at the RIT Tennis Courts.The Dutchmen captured two of three doubles points, then followed with four singles wins to snap a 10-match losing streak dating to last season.
T.J. Moor won a pair of matches, downing Amos Baptiste, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and joining
Brendan Conry Jr. for an 8-6 triumph at No. 1 doubles. Senior
Grant Zaccareo was a double winner as well, dropping just one game in a straight-set win at No. 3 singles and partnering with
Spencer Fontein for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Zaccareo's 31 career wins leads active players on the team.
Union also received singles wins from
Anthony Laurencio (No. 2), who won a match tie-breaker at 10-6, and from
Michael Donadio (No. 6), who defeated Ian Dansereau in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
The Dutchmen (1-7, 1-3 LL) host Hamilton on Tuesday.
