ONEONTA, NY-- The Union College men's swimming and diving team defeated Springfield 159-135, but fell to Hartwick 185-109 on Saturday afternoon.
The men's diving team swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. In the 1-meter, Matt Mintz led the team with a first-place finish and score of 285.20 followed by
Sam Hoyt (268.50) and Cameron Roberston (231.25) in second and third place, respectively. The 3-meter event followed the same suit but Mintz tallied 282.90 points (first), Hoyt had 275.55 points (second) and Robertson had 235.55 (third).
The Dutchmen's
John Enquist tied for first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.10. He also tallied a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.36.
Brendan McClure also posted a first-place victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.78.
The quartet of
Andrew Wojtowicz,
Jack Wassik, Enquist and
Dan Steinmetz placed second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:21.28. In the 200-yard individual medley Enquist finished in 2:01.31 for a second-place finish. While Steinmetz finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.09.
The Dutchmen's McClure finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:16.80. Wojtowicz finished the 200-yard butterfly in 2:09.41 for a third-place finish. Finally, Steinmetz swam a 55.07 in the 100-yard butterfly for third.
The Dutchmen head to Troy, N.Y., to take on crosstown rival RPI on January 15 at 6 p.m.Â
