Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Dutchwomen Fall 4-2 to Vermont

SCHENECTADY, NY—The Union College women's ice hockey team fell 4-2 to Vermont on Saturday afternoon at Messa Rink. Melissa Black made 30 stops in the game, including 14 in the first and 10 in the third.

Vermont's Dayna Colang scored first as she chipped in a shot from Bella Webster and Victoria Andreakos after 1:04 into the first period. Union's Jamie Smith tied it up when Emily Erickson and Alli Devins fed it to Smith who popped it in up the middle. The Catamounts broke the tie as Rachel Ade posted an unassisted goal to go up 2-1. With two minutes remaining in the first, Vermont's Sarah Kelly popped it in from the left side.

12 minutes into the second, Union closed the gap when Kathryn Tomaselli knocked a pass from Brandy Streeter to put the score at 3-2.  

The game stayed stalemate until Vermont scored a late empty-net goal to close out the game 4-2.

Union returns to Messa Rink on January 8 to take on Princeton at 7 p.m.
