SCHENECTADY, NY--Sophomore
Zach Kaplan picked up a pair of wins but it was not enough, as the Union College men's tennis team was topped by 6-3 by Hamilton College in its final match of the fall, Wednesday night at the Union Tennis Courts.
The Dutchmen go to 2-3, while the Continentals improve to 2-1.
Union jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Hamilton registered the first point of the day with a victory at No. 3 doubles, but Kaplan and first-year
Ian Bank got the Dutchmen on the board with an 8-5 win at No. 2.
Max McGeown and
David Bond gave the Dutchmen the lead, battling to a 9-8 (7-5) win at No. 1.
The Continentals bounced back in singles play, taking five of six matches to secure the 6-3 win. Kaplan notched his second win of the day at No. 2, defeating Hamilton's Max McKee-Proctor, 6-3, 7-5.
Union opens the spring season at the St. Lawrence Invitational Feb. 18-19.
