Men's Swimming Takes 12 of 13 Events in Win Over Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - 
The Union College men's swimming team beat Skidmore College 161-72 in Saratoga Springs, NY.

The Dutchmen won 12 of the sceheduled 13 events. Union gained an early 11 points when the 200 meter relay team of Joseph Perks, Zibin Han, Andrew Wojtowicz and Dan Steinmetz edged out the Skidmore team by two hundredths of a second with a time of 1:41.59.

Union would take first and second in each of the next three events (1000 yd freestyle, 200 yd freestyle and 50 yd freestyle) to add 39 points to its lead. In the fifth event of the day, John Enquist beat the field by eight seconds in the 200 yd IM finishing a time of 1:59.90.

Sam Hoyt took home 18 points for the Dutchmen as he won both the 1 m and 3 m diving competitions while teammate and junior Matthew Minz finished second in both events.

In the lone event that Union did not win, the 100 yd backstroke, the Dutchmen finished in the 2nd through 4th grabbing nine points in the event.

The Dutchmen are back in the pool next Saturday when they host Williams College at 1:00 p.m.
