AMSTERDAM , N.Y. -- Union College baseball head coach Paul Mound was one of four individuals inducted into the Amsterdam Baseball/Mohawks Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday evening, January 28.
Joining Mound in the 2017 Hall of Fame Class are Roger Bowman, Keith Griffin and Abram Williams. The event was held at St. Mary's Institute. Mound was joined by his family as well as numerous current and former Union players and his current coaching staff. A record 380 attended the event, which also featured a speech by former Mohawk and current Tampa Bay Ray Luke Maile.
Mound was a member of several stellar Amsterdam High School baseball teams in the 1970s. In his six years as head coach of the Dutchmen, he has an overall record of 131-95-1. Mound's teams have won three Liberty League regular season titles in the last four seasons, two Liberty League conference championships in the last three years and made two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
Mound has guided Union to four straight 20-win seasons since leading the Dutchmen to their first 20-win campaign in program history in 2013. The program also saw its first-ever Major League Baseball draft pick and first-ever American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-American under Mound's tutelage last season in junior Jake Fishman. Fishman was at the induction event.
