SCHENECTADY, N.Y.--The ninth-ranked Union College men's hockey team plays its final non-conference game of the season, taking on crosstown rival Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the Fifth Annual Capital District Mayor's Cup at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y.

UNION VS. RPI ALL -TIME SERIES
Union is 36-53-11 all-time against RPI, 33-35-9 in its Division I era, and 13-6-0 under head coach Rick Bennett. Bennett's teams won 10 straight games against RPI from Nov. 15, 2011 to Nov. 16, 2013. The Dutchmen won both regular season meetings this season, defeating the Engineers 4-1 at Houston Field House on Oct. 28 before securing a 3-2 overtime win at Messa Rink the following night.

LAST MEETING: Oct. 29, 2016 – Union 3, Rensselaer 2 (ot) – Mike Vecchione scored 1:06 into overtime lift Union to a 3-2 win and a regular-season sweep of RPI. Ryan Scarfo and Eli Lichtenwald also scored for the Dutchmen.

SCOUTING RPI
The Engineers snapped a seven-game losing skid with a 4-0 win against then No. 2/3 Harvard on Friday night behind a 41-save performance from sophomore goaltender Chase Perry. Rensselaer fell to Dartmouth, 4-2, on Saturday. 

QUICK HITS
- Brett Supinski's produced his second career two-goal game against Dartmouth on Friday. His first career two-goal game was also against the Big Green (Feb. 12, 2016).
- Union improved to 10-0-0 this season when scoring the first goal.
- Union also improved to 5-1 in one-goal games.
- The Dutchmen were outshot in back-to-back games for the first time this season.
- Union's four power play goals for the weekend were tied for the most in DI. The other team that had four? Rensselaer.
- Both of Union's game-winning goals were scored with the man advantage.
- The win against Harvard was Union's sixth against a ranked opponent this season (6-3-0).

MAYOR'S CUP HISTORY
The two teams have alternated victories in the previous four installments of the Capital District Mayor's Cup, with the team acting as the host/home team winning all four years. This year marks the first time the game will be played on a Thursday. It will also be the fourth time that one of the two teams is ranked in the top 20.
