Dutchwomen defeat Thoroughbreds in season opener

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College swimming and diving team defeated the Skidmore Thoroughbreds this afternoon, 121-110.

The Dutchwomen won both relay races, defeating Skidmore by a margin of no more than three seconds.

Sophomore Kerry Kelly won three individual events this afternoon. Kelly swept the 200-yard IM, 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. In all three races, the second place
finisher was at least two seconds behind Kelly.

Lindsay Hemminger won two events of her own, placing first in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle.

Emily Quinn took home first place in the 100-yard breaststroke and Emilee Nason won the 1,000-yard freestyle.

Despite giving up 32 points in the diving events, the Dutchwomen's strong showing still allowed them to take home the victory.

Union will return to the pool next Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. against Williams College.
