ONEONTA, N.Y.--Union College tennis first-year
Ian Bank contributed a pair of wins in a 7-2 defeat at Oneonta, Thursday evening at the Dr. Heissan '63 Tennis Courts. The Dutchmen go to 4-10, while the Red Dragons move to 5-9.
Bank and
Zach Kaplan combined for Union's first point of the match at No. 1 doubles, defeating Oneonta's top pair of Michael Nelson and Joseph D'Orazio, 8-3.
David Brown and
Del Schunk forced a tiebreaker at No. 3, but the Red Dragons managed to sneak out the 9-8 (7-5) win to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Bank notched his second win of the day at No. 6 with a 6-1, 7-5 victory against Nicholas Fox, but it was not enough, as Oneonta took five of six singles matches for the 7-2 win.
The Dutchmen return to the court Saturday, April 22 with a pair of matches, hosting SUNY Delhi (10 a.m.) and Hobart (3 p.m.).
