TROY, N.Y. -- Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) posted wins in all nine matches to sweep Union College men's tennis team, Wednesday evening at Sharp Courts. The Dutchmen go to 5-12 overall and 1-5 in the Liberty League, while RPI moves to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in the Liberty League, clinching a place in the conference tournament.
The Engineers claimed No. 1 and No. 2 doubles before Union's No. 3 team of
Justin Gold and Del Scunk pushed their match to a tiebreak, but RPI's pair of Zack Ebenfeld and Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez managed to hang on for the 9-8 (4) victory.
Each of the six singles matches were won in straight sets.
Max McGeown played the closest singles match of the day at No. 6, dropping a pair of tiebreakers to Gabe Osio, 6-7 (6), 6-7 (8).
The Dutchmen close out the season Friday, April 28, hosting St. Lawrence at 4 p.m.
