Box Score 2 CLAREMONT, CA - The Union College volleyball team opened up the 2017 season with the loss of match one at the Pacific Coast Classic.
In the best of 5 match, Texas Lutheran claimed the first three sets, but not without resistance from the Dutchwomen (17-25, 18 -25, 21-25).
Gillian Gore attacked consistently in her collegiate opener, with a game high of 11 kills, along with captain
Brianne Hallock who provided on the defense with a game high of 16 digs.
Maegan Teets also delivered, serving up 12 assists and five digs for the Dutch.
Union competed this evening as well against host team Pomona Pitzer dropping three sets to one (22 -25, 25 -19, 22 -25, 22 - 25). Gore struck 19 kills while
Abby Salamone and
Sage Shimamoto combined for over 40 assists. Newcomer
Lara Atalay saw action with 16 digs. The Dutchwomen will face University of La Verne and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps tomorrow beginning at 11:15 a.m. PST to complete the west coast trip.
