UNION VS PENN STATE - ALL-TIME SERIES
- The Dutchwomen trail the all-time series against the Nittany Lions, 4-6-2. Last season, the teams played twice with Union losing, 3-1, on October 6, 2017, and tying, 1-1, on October 7, 2017. 

SCOUTING THE LIONS
-The Nittany Lions finished last season with a record of 10-15-11 and a conference record of 6-7-7. 
-Penn State returns their top three scorers from last season, Natalie Heising (19g, 9a), Brooke Madsen (4g, 17a), and Katie Rankin (7g, 12a). 
-In net, the Nittany Lions return sophomore Daniela Paniccia, who posted a record of 1-5-2 last season with a .930 save percentage and a 1.75 goal against average. 

LAST TIME OUT
-Union hosted Lindenwood for back-to-back games last Friday (Oct. 5) and Saturday (Oct. 6) for the Dutchwomen's first home games of the season.
-After falling behind less than three minutes into the game, Haley Shugart scored her first goal of the season on the power play four minutes later to tie the score. However, a Lion goal with eight minutes remaining in the first period put the game out of reach for Union, who fell 4-1 to Lindenwood (Oct. 5).  
-The Dutchwomen found themselves behind 21 seconds into the opening period and trailed 1-0 until Arianna Kosakowski leveled the score at 8:12 in the second period. Shugart gave Union their first lead of the season with her second power-play goal of the weekend with 11:58 remaining in regulation. Lindenwood made score 2-2 with 10 minutes left, but Sierra Lee scored the game-winning goal late in the final period to secure the Dutchwomen's first victory of the season, 3-2 (Oct. 6).

-The Dutchwomen welcome four new student athletes to their ranks this season, including three forwards and one defenseman.

LOOK WHO'S BACK: FORWARDS
-The Dutchwomen return 11 forwards from the 2017-18 season. Junior Katelynn Russ is the top retuning offensive producer, having totaled 15 goals and six assists last year. Fellow junior Cheyenne Harris was second on the team in scoring, with six goals and 15 assists. 

-Also returning up top for Union includes: Haley Shugart (10g, 3a); Rachel de Perio (2g, 10a); Helen Markovic (3g, 7a); Sierra Lee (2g, 3a); Jordi Naidrich (1g, 3a); Makayla Mori (2g, 1a); Ava Reynolds (0g, 2a); Alli First (0g, 0a); and Angelica Melone (0g, 0a).  

LOOK WHO'S BACK: DEFENSEMEN
-The Dutchmen return four defensemen from the 2018-19 season. Senior Arianna Kosakowski was fourth on the team in scoring, contributing five goals and her 14 assists ranked second on the team last season. Sophomore Megan Ryan ranked was the third highest defensive scorer last season, finishing with three goals and seven assists. Also returning on defense for Union is Hannah Schultz (4g, 4a) and Camille von Steinbergs (0g, 0a).

LOOK WHO'S BACK: GOALTENDERS
-The Dutchmen return all three goaltenders from the 2017-18 season. Sophomore Coco Francis led the pack, posting a record of 6-13-3 with a .918 save percentage and a 2.92 goal against average. Junior Kate Spooner finished last season with a record of 1-6-1, a save percentage of .881 and a 4.46 goal against average. Fellow junior Amerlia Murray posted a 0-3-1 record last year, with a .903 save percentage and a 3.92 goal against average.
