SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Union College men's hockey team came back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to force a 3-3 tie with Omaha on Friday night at Messa Rink.

Omaha (0-0-1) got on the board midway through the first period and extended its lead to 2-0 early in the second period with a power-play goal. The Dutchmen (1-0-1) responded with back-to-back goals before the end of the second period to start the third period with a 2-2 scoreline.
 
In the third period, the Mavericks scored a second power-play goal to take a 3-2 lead early in the third, but Union tied it up before the midway point of the period for the eventual 3-3 tie.
 
How It Happened
Omaha's Dean Stewart scored his first collegiate goal to get the Mavericks on the board at the 10:57 mark of the first period. UNO would carry the 1-0 lead into the first intermission with the shots on net in the first being even at 8-8.
 
In the second period, Omaha scored an early power-play goal thanks to Mason Morelli at the 4:33 mark. Union would then go on to dominate the period, out-shooting Omaha 13-5. Liam Morgan got Union on the board with his first of the season at the 10:11 mark. Brierly then quickly tied the game up less than four minutes later with his career first.
 
The Dutchmen got into penalty trouble early in the third and the Mavericks would use that to score their second PP goal of the night, coming off the stick of Ryan Galt. Omaha would end up out-shooting the Dutchmen, 13-7, in the third period, but Cole Maier would slip a third and final puck past Weninger at the 9:47 mark to tie the game up.
 
In overtime, Union got a later power play, but Weninger made a big stop in the final minute of play to keep the Mavericks leaving with a tie.
