SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming & diving team kicked off the 2018-19 season in strong fashion on Saturday afternoon, winning 11 events on the way to a 156-84 victory over Skidmore College at the Williamson Sports Center.

Freshman
Anna Lehr began her collegiate in style, leading Union with three victories (two individual, one relay) on the day. Three other Dutchwomen picked up a pair of wins and 11 performers played a part in at least one victory on the afternoon.

Lehr's first collegiate win came in her first event, as she captured first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:04.50. She added another first in the 500 freestyle by touching in 5:40.77. She also helped close out the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, teaming with senior
Jennifer Nutter, junior
Kerry Kelly and freshman
Jessica Frigon to place first in 1:46.72.

The day started off well for Union in the 400 medley relay, as the quartet of senior
Emilee Nason, junior
Emily Quinn and freshmen
Zoe Lyon and
Elise Liebow finished in 4:16.49 to win by nearly 10 seconds. Nason and Liebow both added individual victories to their haul as well, with Nason winning the 200 butterfly in 2:19.65 and Liebow's time of 2:17.88 good for first in the 200 backstroke.

Kelly got her season off to a strong start in the 200 individual medley, placing first with a time of 2:18.63. Senior
Cara McCarthy earned a win in the 1000 freestyle, touching the wall in 11:33.09, while Quinn won the 200 breaststroke as well in a time of 2:30.14.

The Dutchwomen took first in both diving events as well, with senior
Anna Gagion winning the one-meter dive with 191.93 points and sophomore
Amanda Lopez taking the three-meter dive with 198.45 points.

Union will be back in the pool next Saturday, when the team welcomes Williams College to the Alumni Gym Pool for the squad's 2018-19 home opener beginning at 1 p.m.
