How It Happened
Union opened the contest hungry to redeem itself from the weekend prior. The Dutchmen were all over the St. Lawrence net early, peppering SLU goaltender Arthur Brey from the get-go. Brey and the Saints' penalty kill thwarted two Union power plays in the first period, but Union would eventually get one past Brey in the final minutes of the period.

Sebastian Vidmar had the puck out wide and threw a pass toward the front of the net to Jack Adams, who cleanly one-timed the puck under Brey's pads for his third goal of the season. Union would end up out-shooting St. Lawrence, 17-4, in the first period.

The second period would produce a four-goal rush within the span of five minutes. At the 9:54 mark while on a five-on-three power play, Vas Kolias caught the Saints flat footed on a transition up the ice. Rushing up the ice, Kolias created a one-on-two for himself and Adams, before dishing the puck over to Adams for the finishing touch.

Just over a minute later, defenseman Brandon Estes would score his second career goal while on another Union power-play. This time a dogpile in front of the St. Lawrence resulted in the puck popping out to Estes on the side who had a wide-open net for the easy goal.

Despite Union's dominance in the period, two penalties resulted in a five-on-three chance for the Saints with less than six minutes left in the frame. After working the puck around the net, St. Lawrence was able to score on a second-rebound attempt to get on the board.

However, Union reclaimed its three-goal lead less than 40 seconds later after Cole Maier deflected a pass and created a two-on-one with Ryan Walker. Maier got the puck over to Walker who shot in stride and sniped the puck past Daniel Mannella, who took over netminding duties halfway through the game, to put Union up 4-1.

The Dutchmen would go on to out-shoot St. Lawrence 23-8 in the period, which included 11 shots taken during the power play.

With a commanding lead in momentum and on the scoreboard, Union rolled into the third period and finished off the pesky Saints without any further goal scoring.

Jake Kupsky made 19 saves in net for the Dutchmen, improving to 3-1-1 on the season. Brey recorded the loss for St. Lawrence, but finished the night with 31 saves through 30:57 of game time, while Mannella ended with 14 saves.

Up Next for the Dutchmen
Union finishes the weekend with Clarkson back at Messa Rink tomorrow. Puck drop with the Golden Knights is slated for 7 p.m. (ET).
