Statistical Comparison
How It Happened
Union scored its first-two goals thanks to defensive-zone turnovers by the Bears during the first period.
The first goal came after
Ryan Walker intercepted a bad clearance along the half boards. Walker then quickly dished the puck over to a wide-open
Liam Morgan in front of the net, who tapped in the game's first goal at the 6:59 mark.
About 10 minutes later,
Cole Maier stole the puck from a Brown player trying to skate out of his defensive zone. After gaining the puck, Maier turned and shot the puck on net. The initial shot was stopped, but Walker was parked in front of the net and put the rebound in for the Dutchmen's second goal of the night.
In the second period, Brown came out fired up and got on the board within the first three minutes thanks to a goal from Justin Jallen. The Bears then tied the game up at 2-2 with a goal from Alec Mehr at the 10:33 mark.
Just as it looked like Brown was taking all the momentum,
Parker Foo netted a rebound-goal off a shot from
Brandon Estes to put Union back on top with less than four minutes to play in the second. However, Brown scored for a third time in the 20-minute span, this time with a goal from Alex Brink, to even the game up at 3-3.
Union went on to out-shoot the Bears, 7-4, in the third period, but Brown goaltender Luke Kania turned all seven shots aside and made four more saves in overtime to deny the Dutchmen a win.
