Men's Tennis Wraps Up Fall at ITAs

Day One Results

GENEVA, N.Y. –
The Union College men's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule by competing at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Hobart College at the HWS Tennis Center and Bristol Field House on Friday.

Sophomore Max Egna was the only Dutchman to make it past the first round of competition. He battled back from a set down to defeat Stevens Institute of Technology's Gabriel Sifuentes in a supertiebreaker, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 10-1. However, the sophomore dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to third-seeded Alan Dubrovsky of Hobart College in the second round.

In other Union action, freshman Ioannis Binopoulos fell to University of Rochester's Yifan Shen, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3, while sophomore Austin Egna was forced to retire after dropping the first set 6-2 to New York University's Yanik Parsch.

Both Union doubles entries fell in the first round as well. Binopoulos and senior Max McGeown fell by an 8-4 score to Justin Wain and Matt Puig from the College of New Jersey, while the Egnas were beaten by the second seeds, Skidmore College's Travis Leaf and JT Wynne, 8-0.

The ITAs wrap up the fall season for Union, which won both of its dual matches in addition to its three tournaments. The Dutchmen are slated to return to action on March 9, 2019 against Rochester Institute of Technology.

I chose Union because my cousin went here and loved his time here. The combination of my cousin convincing me, and the fact that I thought I was a good fit made me attend Union.
