SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Union College women's hockey team returns home to Messa Rink to face conference foes Princeton and Quinnipiac on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16.

About the Dutchwomen:

  • Union split last weekend, falling against Yale 5-0 on Friday, before starting gaining their first win of the season, 4-1, over Brown on Saturday.
  • In Friday's loss from the Bulldogs, first-year goaltender Bella McKee saved 40. Regardless of the result, McKee was awarded with the second star of the game on Friday.
  • In the Dutchwomen win over the Bears, first-year Emily King collected her first collegiate goal as the game-opener. Junior Helen Markovic and sophomore Grace Heiting also scored in the game, collecting their first goals of the early season.
  • Senior Katelynn Russ solidified the Union win with an empty-net goal in the final minute to get her second goal of the season. Russ currently leads the team in goals (3) and is tied for the lead in points (4) with first-year Leah Herrfort.
  • McKee saved 19 shots to get her first career win.

About Princeton:

  • Yale split a road conference weekend, taking a 6-2 loss from Harvard on Friday, and winning over Dartmouth on Saturday by a 2-1 tally.
  • With her eight points this season, senior Carly Bullock is currently tied for 16th in the ECAC in scoring, after playing seven games. Bullock had a total of four goals in the Tigers' season opening series versus Syracuse, and currently has a team-leading six goals and two assists so far this season.
  • Junior Rachel McQuigge and senior Steph Neatby have both started games for the Tigers so far this season, with McQuigge leading the pack in goals against average (1.50), save percentage (.932), and wins (3).
  • Princeton currently sits tied for fourth in the ECAC standings, with a 3-2-0 conference record, as of November 12.

The Series with the Tigers:

  • Friday night's game between Princeton and Union is the 33rd meeting between the two ECAC Hockey squads, with Union's record sitting at 1-30-1. 
  • Last season, Union went 0-2-0, with Princeton having the definitive advantage in both games. The last time the Tigers played in Schenectady, the Tigers took the game with a 4-0 score on December 8, 2018.

About Quinnipiac:

  • Quinnipiac split the series last weekend, tieing Dartmouth by a 1-1 tally, before falling to Harvard in overtime, 3-2. The Bobcats will play at Rensselaer on Friday night before coming to Messa Rink on Saturday.
  • Lexie Adzija leads the Bobcats in points through eleven games with three goals and eight points. Taylor House also leads the Bears in goal scoring with Maloney, with four goals and four points on the season so far. 
  • Abbie Ives has been the starter in goal for Quinnipiac this season, starting nine games. Freshman goaltender Logan Angers leads the pair in GAA and save percentage, with both of her wins being shutouts over Sacred Heart.
  • Quinnipiac is eleventh in ECAC Hockey standings, holding a 0-4-1 conference record and a 4-5-2 record overall.  

The Series with the Bobcats:

  • Saturday's match with the Bobcats is the 36th meeting between these two teams, with Union sitting at 0-31-4 in the all-time series.
  • Last season, Union went 0-2-0 against Quinnipiac, with the Dutchwomen losing by a 3-1 score, and by 0-5 in Hamden.

Shutouts for Seizures:

  • Senior goalie Amelia Murray and the Union Dutchwomen invite you to take part in the Shutouts for Seizures campaign on Saturday versus Quinnipiac, as the women's hockey team hosts their annual Shutouts for Seizures game to benefit Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE).
  • Shutouts for Seizures is a fund raising initiative within the hockey community to raise money, spread awareness and support research for epilepsy. Through Shutouts for Seizures, fans can pledge to donate a certain dollar amount to CURE for each time a shutout is earned. To date, nearly $30,000 has been raised for this great cause.
